Former Graphic Design graduate Mike Tierney returned to HSAD to share news of his major projects recently undertaken with global clients.
Mike, a freelance motion designer, started his journey in the creative world at the Hull School of Art & Design where he won a coveted D&AD Student Award in his final year. The famous yellow pencil is awarded to the best student in each category in the Design & Art Direction Annual Competition, a global association for creative advertising and design.
The D&AD student awards are considered one of the highest international accolades at undergraduate level.
Mike told our undergraduates
“The knowledge I gained here was invaluable to my success, learning a variety of skills from colour theory, composition, typography, photography, design software and much more. This created the foundations of my career. I had my first job ready for me to start when I graduated. After working for various companies in the UK I decided to go freelance”.
Mike has produced work for big names such as Sony and Nike.
“I now travel the world full-time working remotely from my laptop. My projects mainly consist of motion graphics and film work. I get to meet a lot of interesting people on my travels and work on some awesome projects too”.
